The site of rehabilitation of the Audi soap factory, located on the outskirts of Sidon, revealed an unsuspected historical and architectural richness. The Audi block extends over 3 levels and covers 800 sq. m. along the Mutran street. A detailed analysis of the building, supported by surveys undertaken during the renovation work, allows the distinction of 4 main phases of evolution of this block.
The most ancient vestiges are individual arched units implanted along the medieval city walls, which were the city limits until the XVIII century. A first extension to the east is noticed in the middle of the XIX century closely followed, at the outset of the XX century, by the construction of a building with a triple arcade.
