Created by the initiative of Mr. Raymond Audi, the foundation established itself in Saida within the confines of the family residence. Striking root in the memory of the city, the foundation raises the flag of revaluation of the socio-cultural heritage on a multitude of scales:
Initiation of cultural and artistic activities through the exercise of studies and the organization of conferences and permanent or temporary exhibitions in connection with this collective memory.
Preservation of the city architectural heritage by participating to the restoration of mazes and alleys that engulf the houses that are an integral part of Audi District.
Rehabilitation of some edifices of the city in order to launch magnet activities.
Combination of private and public efforts to create a regional museum for the town of Saida as well as an archaeological site open to the public to consolidate the tourist aspect of the city. Family residence (seat of the foundation)
The residence of Audi family, built on two phases over the old soap factory, is a typical example of the traditional architecture that distinguishes Lebanese abodes supplied with a central hall.
Seat of a public school for more than thirty years, it has been recently rehabilitated to transform it into the seat of the family foundation, Audi Foundation.
Old family pictures inspired restoration works. Thus, the red-bricked roof, the balconies’ banisters and the original openings have re-emerged.
The edifice was redesigned in a way to lodge the foundation administration members and to install a cultural equipment that comprises a conference hall, an exhibition hall, a library, a polyvalent space as well as a kitchen laboratory called: “Matbakh”.
This house lived influenced by the seasons: orange trees blossoms season, olive oil and soaps season… Aspiring to preserve this memory, this socio-cultural heritage gave full rein to this adventure, the objective of Audi Foundation.
